the holiday season is almost over. next week we'll stumble blearily into 2001 & that'll be the end of it. today is the day after xmas, & for whatever nice reason my parent company gave us the day off, so it hardly even feels like tuesday, but it is.
my big gift of the year was a digital camera, & it would've been a total surprise too if there hadn't been hints left around the house during the previous week (i didn't search them out; i just stumbled across them). or if i hadn't already opened the "efilm", the rechargeable batteries "for digital cameras", & the coupon for free prints before i got to open the camera. sadly the one under the tree refused to work (we followed the directions & everything, but it would never extend the lens or let us do anything) so we had to exchange it today for a new one, which does work (we tested it out in burger king to be sure).
it's surprising how convenient the instant gratification of a digital camera can be. in moments i can have a beautiful print of a pic i just took, as opposed to film which could sit in my old camera for a year before getting developed, at which point i have no idea what the pictures are supposed to be. i can't recommend highly enough my newish printer, either, the lexmark z52. i've gotten some stunning prints of pics i've taken just today.
this can soften the blow from my scanner, which has decided to crash my computer whenever i attempt to use it. the manufacturers seem to have stopped supporting the scanner some time back, so i won't be able to find new drivers. i might just hook it up to my parents' computer & see if it works there. like you care. i am boring you. you have already stopped reading, in spirit if not in reality.
at any rate, this does mean there will be new pics up soon! after all, i really have no damn excuse now, do i? so there could be pics up in a matter of days, depending on what gets photographed. so far i've mostly taken pics of the pets, but will have to move on to something else soon. so maybe you'll get to see pics of me in my natural environment, or world-crushing artistic photographs, or maybe just portraits of the cat. you must wait to find out.
okay, so this sermon is boring. i know it, you know it, everyone knows it. so i'll shut up for once & just wish you the hackneyed "happy holidays" that every acquantance & your grocer wishes you around this time...
