believe it or not, i was just today offered yet another live gig. that's 3 in 3 months. before that i had never performed live before. obviously i must be a huge rockstar. just like aerosmith, but with talent.

the best part is that this will actually be in my own hometown of indianapolis. to date i've only played in college towns that were an hour or more away. it shouldn't feel like a major achievement to get a gig in my hometown ("common sense" would seem to indicate just the opposite) but it does. indy is funny like that.

anyway, you probably want some hard information about this, not a bunch of namby-pamby emotionalism relating to my sudden relative success. the gig will be april 14th at an event called requiem. i am currently scheduled to be the opening act, which at this point i would take as meaning that i will perform at 7pm. but i could be wrong about that. the event is being hosted by bog productions. they are the crew that is responsible for practically all of the "goth/industrial"-type events that have taken place in indy over the past several years. they have been around a long time & have done a lot for indianapolis.

the venue is a place called festivilla. it's run by some guy smedley, & apparently used to be called the purple underground, but then it moved & changed its name (so i don't see how they're the same place at all, but that's what i hear). it's on the indianapolis east side on massachusetts street. directions are available at the bog website. i've personally been there, so i can't comment on what the venue is like.

the event will be all ages. however there will be wine & beer available to those who are 21+. i'm more of a mixed-drink man (a.k.a a girl drink drunk) myself, but as long as i can still get alcohol, & the kiddies can still attend, that's a near-perfect gig situation in my book.

i don't know too much about the lineup yet. i do know that i will be the opening act, so if anyone comes out just to me see me, be sure to get there early. beyond that, i know that mister E (from bog) will spin... he spins mostly ebm from what i understand. a local "goth-rock" type band called number six will also be playing. i haven't gotten around to sampling their tracks yet, so for all i know they're unbelievably good. finally, i know that a band called chyme from champaign-urbana is booked to play that night. i guess they're also some kind of hard-leaning rock band. that's all i know for now. for all i know we are the only artists who'll be performing that night. or there could be a 1/2 dozen more bands booked that i haven't heard about.

the only downside is that it is the night before easter (which is april 15th this year). so although i can egotistically expect many of my friends in the area to attend, i can't reasonably expect anyone from farther away to make that long drive here when they probably have family obligations. such is life.

well, that's just enough self-obsorbed propaganda to fill a sermon, i'd say. if you want me to keep you informed of the details of this gig as it approaches, send me an email & i'll put you on a special list (sure to boost your self-esteem) of updates & reminders. it's just that easy! & if you really don't care, simply do not email me, & you probably won't hear about it again. that's even easier!
