The Official Dan Clore Homepage

The Website of Lord Weÿrdgliffe

Welcome to the Waughters....

One night in 1796, after drinking too many bottles of laudanum, and eating too many platefuls of Welsh rabbit, Lord Weÿrdgliffe retired to sleep beneath the canopy over his satin-sheeted bed....

The result: his most gruesome and grotesque nightmare....

Dan Clore....

A horror the centuries have failed to erase....

The Unspeakable and Others

All of the fiction that I deem worth keeping (and then some!) has been collected in a 100,000+ word volume entitled The Unspeakable and Others. About half of the volume consists of Lord Weÿrdgliffe stories. In addition to the stories, it includes a pair of Fortean essays and a few odd pieces. The introduction is by S.T. Joshi. The Unspeakable and Others may be purchased from Amazon.com.

except to erect beautiful, orderly buildings."

The Spamguard software used by AOL and Yahoo! classifies any message with the URL of this website in the form http://www.geo cities.com/SoHo/9879/ (blank space inserted to get around the problem, just in case) as spam. AOL simply blocks e-mails with the URL entirely, without any notification either to the recipient or the sender. Yahoo! puts the messages into a suspected spam folder. (I discovered the problem when sending messages to my own mailing-list on YahooGroups.)

I have been unable to get any useful response from either company; neither responds (if at all) with anything but a message proclaiming that Spamguard provides great protection from spam. Just to find out what specifically caused messages to be so classified, I had to experiment on my own. I cannot imagine why the URL would be taken as an indication of spam, nor has either company provided any indication.

Since I naturally include the URL of my website in my sigfile, this had the result of erroneously blocking all my e-mails.

Fortunately, GeoCities allows an alternative form for the URL, and this does not trigger the "spam" software. This is http://www.oocities.org/clorebeast/.

Since the SoHo/9879/ form may cause problems, I ask that anyone who links to my website use the clorebeast form of the URL.
