Title: The One
Writer: Alissa
The sound of her heels and I run and hide,
I run to him but I get pushed aside.
She hits my head and punches my chest,
'Til she knows I can't endure the rest.
I put up with this every day and night,
It seems like I can't do anything right.
My father left when I was ten,
He never wrote or phoned again.
She said father left because he hated me so,
Whether it's true I'll never know.
Then my mother left me too,
It must have been the right thing to do.
I believed what she said all my life,
And the words sliced through my heart like a jagged knife.
But now I realize I did nothing wrong,
She was the one all along.
