INGREDIENTS: makes 50 won tons

1 lb(450 g) Won Ton wrappers

½lb(225 g) ground pork

¼C chopped onions

1 Chinese sausage, chopped

½C chopped bamboo shoots

½C chopped green onions

1 t mirin or rice wine

1 t salt

1 t soy sauce

2 t cornstarch

 

1 egg white

3C oil for deep-frying

Some SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

METHOD:

Combine filling ingredients. Then place 1t filling (heaping) on the top corner of wrapper. Fold tip of wrapper over the meat. Roll wrapper until halfway down covering meat. Put a small dab of egg on the left hand side of covered meatball. Pull sides back and pinch together, placing on side on top of the egg white. Then, fry it in oil for 2 minutes until a golden brown. Turn it occasionally. Serve with Sweet and sour sauce. (see how to make sauce at the bottom.)

Making sweet and sour sauce:

Ingredients:

¾ C water

1½ T cornstarch

2 T rice vinegar

3 T catsup

²/3 C sugar

Dash soy sauce

Method:

Mix together all ingredients in order. Cook and stir until sauce comes to a full boil. Pour into bowl to use with appetizers.

*Mix sauce together ahead. bring to full boil just before serving Sauce can be kept warm or reheated.
