Summary: Deals with why Carter screamed at Chris at the end of the story and where the name Monkey Boy came from. It's a Prolouge/Epologue to Just One Kiss.
Sixteen year old Christal Steele jumped up and down at the stand as she waited for the man to hand her the Cotton Candy she had just ordered. She had finished her ice cream cone without getting any on her favorite purple shirt and immediately found the stand for the cotton candy another on a long list of food items she was going to purchase at the fair. It was her tradition to eat certain foods, she was still young and energetic enough not to worry about weight gain, though other girls had begun to go off the deep end with it. Chris walked over to where her twelve year old cousin Aaron and their friend Carter who was also twelve stood eating their ice cream cones. Chris was considered old enough to be at the fair alone, but Carter and Aaron weren’t yet Chris didn’t mind hanging out with them because they were the reason she was there in the first place. If it wasn’t for them she wouldn’t even be in Mariner Bay in the first place. They all wanted to see the animals at the fair, ride the rides, and see the classic cars not to mention the Arcade. As Chris approached Aaron mumbled something about going to the Arcade for a while, or start looking at the Classic Cars.
“Hmmmm, both have pros, but the arcade has cons.” Chris said.
“How so?” Aaron asked.
“You spend money at the Arcade” Chris replied.
“So you don’t need money for the Cars” Aaron said.
“Yeah but the cars look nice in the middle of the day.” Carter said, he had suggested the cars. Chris was one of very few people who could just pour out information about things such as cars, and Carter enjoyed listing to it. Aaron stood thinking about it; he loved to play against Chris in any video games he could get his hands on. Carter opened his mouth to make more of an argument but stopped and simply stared at something in the distance.
“Carter you okay?” Chris asked, after a moment she poked him, another moment she waved her hand in front of his face.
“Just saw an angel.” He said with the most dumbfound look on his face. Chris’ head whipped around to where he was staring but only saw the back of a young blond girls head.
“Well go say hi” Chris said push him,
“I can’t” Carter said, Chris shrugged and pulled him along towards where she had gone. Unfortunately Chris had lost sight of her and had no idea where she had gone.
“You’ve got to get a little more bolder.” Chris said as Aaron joined them.
“Carter I’m sure you’ll see more “Angles” in the future.” Aaron said, slightly annoyed. Chris kept the comment that popped in her head to herself.
“Not like her.” Carter said as he stood there. Aaron rolled his eyes at Carter and sighed girls were still no a big thing in his life.
“She was soooooooo beautiful” Carter said causing more eye rolling from Aaron.
“Well just don’t put her on a pedestal when you see her again.” Chris said,
“See her again, probably not.” Aaron said.
“I’m sure he will if he has that much of a reaction to her.” Chris said retrieving napkins for Carter’s hands, his ice cream having begun to melt all over his hands.
“I would put money on it not happening.” Aaron said. Once again the only thing bad about Chris and Aaron put together began to show up.
“Oh yeah a hundred bucks says he will” Chris said smugly.
“Fine let’s shake on it.” Aaron said and stuck out his hand. Carter had been pulled away from his Angel long enough to know what they were going to do.
“HEY!!” Carter yelled as Chris shook Aaron’s hand. “You guys did not just make that bet!!”
“Hey I’m betting for you’re happiness don’t throw a Monkey Wrench in it Boy.” Chris said.
“That my future you don’t make bets about people’s futures.” Carter cried indignantly at the two.
“That’s what you think Monkey Wrench Boy.” Chris said as she started to eat her Cotton Candy again.
“We do it every time we bet on sports games.” Aaron said matter-of-factly. Carter sighed as he followed the other two. He glanced back towards where his angel had gone and sighed.
“Come on Monkey Boy we’ve got Cars to look at” Chris said as she walked away. Carter followed his friends to the Classic Car Show. In all his time Carter never thought he’d see such a lovely sight as he had that day. He was right until the day he met Dana at the fire the Demons had started.
Chris smirked as she walked into her quarters she snickered as she a walked over to the table where a couple of pictures laid on the table. They were of Dana when she was younger at a fair in Mariner Bay. In one there was a girl with brown hair in a purple shirt holding cotton candy and walking out of the picture. She picked up one and stared at it she thought about the day and what had happened in it. Carter finally told Dana he wanted to be more than friends and she had won a hundred bucks. It defiantly was a very good day, tomorrow Carter would be ready to kill her but then that was tomorrow. Smiling she placed the picture back down making a mental note to return the pictures to Captian Mitchell tomorrow. She then sat on the floor and began to meditate.
