LAWRENCE LEVEQUE AND DOROTHY JONES

THEIR GENEALOGIES


This site is devoted to the genealogies of my parents. Lawrence Leveque, my father, was born in Greene County, Indiana, the fourth child of a marriage between a French coal miner and the daughter of an American pioneer family. My mother was born in Louisa County, Virginia. She was the only daughter of second generation Irish-American mother and a father with a very diverse backround.They were married in 1944. Lawrence died in 1989 and Dorothy the following year.

THE JONES AND GALVIN FAMILIES

This photograph is of my great grandfather, Edward David Jones II. Born in Louisa County, Virginia in 1870, he was part Native-American. In 1894, he married Kate Denton. Their son Edward Carrol Jones, my grandfather, married Agnes Galvin of New York City in 1920. She was the first child of Maurice Galvin and Catherine Fay.

THE LEVEQUE AND RHODES GAMBILL FAMILIES

This Photograph pictures my great grandfather Frank Joseph Leveque and my grandfather Clement(Bill) Leveque. Frank Leveque married the Belgian born Angeline Waterloo. They immigrated from the north of France. My grandfather and his two brothers eventually settled in the coal fields of Greene County, Indiana. He married Lula Gambill Rhodes in 1914.

NATIVE-AMERICANS AND FREE AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN LOUISA COUNTY

My great great grandmother, Susan Ann Johnson, was of mixed Native-American and African-American heritage. Born about 1834, she married Edward Jones in 1850.
