 Matti Caspi is a very talented
musician and a great composer. He has composed many songs for the most famous Israeli
singers. Matti Caspi is also a singer. To tell you the truth, I think that he writes
beautiful songs but sings them poorly. You can fully discover his great composing talents
when someone else sings his songs... Note that that is the case for many composers. For
instance, in Israel, Naomi Shemer maybe considered as one of the greatest
composers-lyricists, but boy, she can't sing!!! (still, she made several records that many
critics found marvelous. Let me tell you something, either those critics were deaf or they
did not bother listen to her records...:unpleasant and off key!) Still, Matti Caspi's
singing is not nearly as bad as Naomi Shemer's, but it is not the best either. The major
problem is that his voice is flat and a little boring because he always sings in the same
tone. Not much emotion is shown unfortunately. For a long time, he was nicknamed:
"the singer that never smiles"...Do we need to comment? To me, Matti Caspi has
the same effect as an herbal tea: he makes me sleep... |
