Yehudit Ravitz is an
extraordinary gifted musician, and a wonderful singer. Her career is interesting too:
Yehudit started singing ballads and light pop, then bit by bit, year after year, she
evolved towards pop and rock. I would say that till 1987, date of the release of her very
successful album "Baa Meahava" (Coming from Love), Yehudit Ravitz was a
pop and ballads singers. Then, she became plainly rock, although she still sang a few
wonderful love songs. Personally, I prefer the first period of Yehudit Ravitz, "Baa
Meahava" included. Indeed, after this album, she changed recording company, and
her style, as I said, became too rock for my taste (harsh electric guitars, etc). Last
year, she released a new album, "Eyzo Min Yalda", which, to me, is her
absolutely worst disc to date. It's not even simple rock anymore, it is plainly hard rock,
noisy and with not much charm. I was very disappointed. I think that Yehudit Ravitz is
really fantastic and has a huge artistic potential, but that she should use her talent
recording other type of songs, or at least, doing what she did for "Baa
Meahava", that is to say, mixing rock songs with ballads (genre she is excellent
at). The good thing though is that we can delight in her earlier fabulous records since
they are all available on CD! |
