Detail of LLICLLA (Woman´s Mantle) early
20th century. From Cuyo-Cuyo, Province of Carabaya. Composed of
three separately woven strips. Principal center strip is
illustrated. Warp-faced plain weave with Supplementary Warp
floats on a paired-warp ground. A fine cotton weft used only the
width of the pattern stripes alternates with the heavier alpaca
wool weft which is continuous across the cloth. Dimensions: 80
cm. x 75 cm. Of outstanding interest.
