A - Original photo
B - Enhanced photo
|
When you first look at the two images the only striking
differences appear to be the proper alignment and the removal of sky detail.
A closer look reveals the true purpose of the retouched photo (B).
The house originally had the traditional "widow's walk" on the roof,
a balcony from which one could look out to the ocean for returning boats.
Because of some deterioration it was removed (A). The widow's walk was
restored by "painting" it back on in photo (B). The new addition (on the
right side of the house) was also removed and replaced with the angled
verandah roof from the original design.
Subtle enhancements that were done merely for improving image quality.
These include lightening the shadows, increasing overall contrast and color
saturation, tinting the foreground fence brown, fixing and elongating the
house fence ,removing litter from the rock and grassy areas, removing various
background items. More drastically, the entire rock and house were moved
closer to the tree for a better, tighter, post card composition. |
