Chapter 5
The dinner
Alex, Jason and Monica walked up to Brian's parent's front door.
Jason and Alex were dressed causally, wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
Monica had chosen a simple red dress that went down to her knees. Alex
rang the doorbell and a moment later, Brian opened the door.
"Alex, you're here." he gestured them inside.
"Hello, Jason. Monica, you look lovely tonight."
"Thank you, Brian." Monica said. She looked around.
"Your home is nice." Brian smiled.
"Mostly my mother's touch. Would you care for a tour?"
"Yeh, we would." Jason replied.
The first room upstairs was Brian's. It was nicely decorated with
posters, baseball caps and had a beautiful red quilt on the bed.
"This is nice," Monica said, looking around.
"Yes. My mom made that quilt. Red is my favorite color, you know."
Noticing his attention was focused on her, Monica blushed.
"So," She began, "What about your parent's room?"
After the tour Brian introduced to the other guests.
"These are my parents , their neighbors and my girlfriend, Tanya."
They greeted each other and sat down to eat.
"So, Monica," Brian began, "Tell me about yourself. What are your
hobbies? Your dreams?" Monica shifted uncomfortably.
"Well, to start, I'm attending Quinn Community Collage and studying
Architecture. What about you?" Brian smiled.
"Nothing much to tell. I'm sure Alex told you I'm rooming with him."
"Yes, he did tell us that."
"He also told that you play football." Jason said. Brian looked at him.
"Yeah."
"Well, whenever Brandon visits next we should get together and play."
Jason suggested.
"Brandon?" Jason looked surprised.
"Yeah. He's a friend of ours. Alex did tell you about him," Jason
glanced at Alex. "Didn't he?" Alex sputtered.
"Of course I did! Brian, I told you about him. We went to high school
together and-"
"I know Brandon." Brian interrupted. He turned his gaze back to Monica.
"So, you're studying Architecture. I thought of doing that once." Brian
said. He put his hand over hers. Monica stood up abruptly, drawing the
attention of the rest of the table.
"Um, could you tell me where your bathroom is?" She said, blushing slightly.
"I'll show you where it is." Brian said. He stood up also.
"It's not necessary."
"I insist." Monica sighed and let him lead her. When they got to the
bathroom, Brian opened the door for her.
"Monica," Brian started, putting a hand on her shoulder. "I just want to
say, you look beautiful tonight." Monica shrugged his hand off and went
in.

Brandon and Mark sat down at a table in the local pizza parlor. Brandon
had invited Isaac, his new roommate, but he declined.
"So, how did Kurt take the news?" Brandon asked.
"Pretty well," Mark responded. "From what I was told. He was shocked at
first, but now he seems excited."
"Seems?" Mark shrugged.
"We don't know each other very well, but I don't think he really wants
this baby."
"Does Tracey think that?" Mark shook his head.
"No. Right now all she's thinking about is the baby."
"You know, I still haven't met him."
"You will. Tracey wants to go to that new 'Babies R Us' store but her
car is in the shop. She asked me to drive her and Kurt. Want to go
with me?"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." Mark said. "I don't want to be alone with them right now."
"Okay then. Why not."

Monica was so glad the dinner was over. 'Now all I have to is say
goodbye to everyone, then I can finally leave.' She thought to herself.
Thank you for inviting us." She said to Brian as they walked to the open
door. "Goodnight."
She stepped through and breathed a sigh of relief.
Brain put his hand on her shoulder and came up close. He whispered in
her ear.
"Farewell. Until we met again." With that, he went back inside.
"So, what do you think?" Alex said as he and Jason came outside.
"You don't want to know what I think." She replied.
