ROBBIE WILLIAMS, BETH ORTON and THE DIVINE COMEDY were present to witness RADIOHEAD's return to the live arena on Sunday (July 1) and were unanimous in their praise of their "inspirational" performance.

Speaking to nme.com backstage after the gig at London Royal Festival Hall, Beth Orton, sitting with comedian Sean Hughes said: "I think they were amazing, they were inspirational, they inspired me to get on and write a new record.

"His voice just transcended...I can't think of a way to describe it. All I can say is that I got a feeling of inspiration, a feeling of 'Wow', I want to make music. Fuck, I do make music, I'd better go and do it now!"

Also speaking to nme.com, Robbie Williams said: "It was dead inspirational...I thought, fuck, I'm Robbie Williams and I'm not Thom Yorke. And then I started to think about all the people that I wasn't.

"There's a lot of people that I would like to be, but it's never going to happen! I liked the stuff that he did on the piano. Radiohead can do what they want. Travis did 'Baby One More Time'. I wish Radiohead would have done it, just as a one off. I saw Thom Yorke pulling faces at his piano!"

A starstruck Neil Hannon from The Divine Comedy added: "I thought it was astonishing, it was awesome and slightly annoying for us fellow performers. It's impossible to match up to that, one has to try to find other avenues to explore!"

Other musicians who were at the show included The Bluetones and Mansun.
