February 25, 2000 --
The presidential campaign of Democrat Bill Bradley announced the names of the
Georgia steering committee today, demonstrating continued momentum in the Peach
State. Bradley's Georgia steering committee includes some of the most powerful
figures in the Statehouse; prominent business leaders; civic leaders; educators;
former professional athletes; and religious leaders.
The Honorable John Henry Anderson and Anne Cox Chambers serve as Honorary
Chairs of Bradley's Georgia campaign and agree that the campaign is "poised
for victory on March 7."
"I've been involved in a lot of campaigns in my time," Mr. Anderson
said. "I can’t remember a candidate with the kind of broad-based support
that Bill Bradley has in Georgia and across the country."
House Appropriations Chair Terry Coleman, one of the key Bradley supporters
in Georgia, agreed. "It takes a very special candidate to gather a group
like this one. When was the last time you saw this many people of such diverse
backgrounds support the same candidate?" asked Coleman. "I'm very
proud to be a part of it."
"It is inspiring to hear a presidential candidate so concerned about
poor people and race relations. Having heard Senator Bradley's important remarks
on the need to face up to and end our nation’s history of discrimination, I
have concluded that there is no better candidate to move our party and our
nation forward," Andrew Young III, said today.
