-->Rebecca by Daphne Du Morier. Hitchcock made this into a movie, but I prefer the book. Very suspensful, filled with great imagery. Set in London, a classic.
-->The Godfather by Mario Puzo. This is possibly my favorite book of all time. The movie is incredible, but have you ever read the book? There is so much they never used. I read this at least thee times a year, and am never tired of it.
-->The Sicillian by Mario Puzo. Not a sequal to The Godfather. This is about an outlaw named Turi in Sicilly, who faught the Mafioso from the mountains. Incredible story.
-->Daisy Fae and the Miracle Man by Fannie Flagg. Fannie Flagg is most famous for Fried Green Tomatoes, but Daisy Fae is my favorite by her. It is written from the perspective of a little girl growing up in the south with some insane parents. This is one of the most hilarious books I've ever read, great for reading aloud.
-->Bailey's Cafe by Gloria Naylor. This book is really powerful. But beware when you read it, it's also very sad. It's about a cafe where people go when they're at the end of their rope. It tells the stories of the people who go there and the people who run it. It's a great book, very well written.
-->Mama Day by Gloria Naylor. Another great book. This one is pretty thought provoking, and you can really lose yourself in it for hours. This one is about a pair of sisters and their family. There is some magic and mystery in this one.
