Alone

When the mountain goes no higher
I stand atop my lofty spire
my soul a raging inner fire
then i look down at all I've known
and where I stand I stand alone

Upon the wind I do behold
a vision of love and glory untold
that I rush to join this quest so bold
hoping to reap the seeds I've sown
and when I hope, I hope alone

But only through failure can I learn
success does not, will not burn
triumph can be, must be earned
always through failure have I grown
and when I fail, I fail alone

From my silent perch on high
I look out across the sky
and quietly I start to cry
for now I face the dark unknown
and where I go, I go alone
