- I, a Stool
I am an individual.
I love to stand alone.
But I'm put in rows
with others they think I am like.
I hate that.
I've seen many sights.
experienced many events.
I've helped so many people;
In their solo acts
as I was destined to.
My favorites are the poets.
They always express things
as I've felt them at one time or another.
I am in the spotlight a lot,
But not as me--
as a comfort to those who use me,
always underneath it all.
I've seen many people's careers
come to an end;
As well as their rears,
boy could I tell you stories of them.
But you wouldn't be interested
in those I've seen
the dirty, the clean
the pure, the obscene.
Oh, someone sat naked on me once.
But I won't tell you about that.
You're probably not even listening now.
Many think I'm just an object
sturdy but too soft in the head.
Hey out there! I have feelings!
But no on can hear me,
I am only a stool.
