December 1998 Poems

These were published in December, 1998, after two month's absence from the net.

For Dr. Catherine Grace Ledesma-Lim, on September 30, 1998:
 

                                                      Thank you
                                             for your gift
                                             of a new life for me

                                             My gift to you
                                             is a promise
                                             that I will live this life
                                             to the fullest
 

                                              Happy Birthday, Cathy!
 

 For the week of December 7-13, 1998
 

                                                      after a month
                                             of lying down
                                             in bed to rest

                                             standing by the sink
                                             washing all the dishes
                                             was pure bliss!
 
 


For the week of December 14-21, 1998
 

                                                      i dream . . .

                                            of finally
                                            being able to sleep
                                            on my cozy bed
                                            just thirteen steps up
                                            to my bedroom
                                            that i have not seen
                                            for over two months
 


 For CSD, who put up a Pinoy Krismas Kamayan feast on Dec 16, 1998
 
 

                                    Handog na Tula, Para sa Inyo
 

                                            Isang paskong
                                            tunay na tunay

                                            tuksuhan
                                            tawanan
                                            at masaganang kainan

                                            'yan ang kasayahan
                                            ng ating samahan

                                            Maraming Salamat Po
                                            sa Kaitaasan
 


For  the week: December 28, 1998-January 3, 1999:
 

                                                      mamang taxi driver
                                             lubak po'y ating iiwasan
                                             sapagka't ako po
                                             ay bago lang naoperahan

                                             mga salitang ito'y
                                             tiyak na pagsisimulan
                                             ng buong biyaheng usapan
                                             tungkol sa operasyon
                                             magagaling na doktor
                                             at mahuhusay na ospital

                                             kaya't ang ipinapaalala po
                                             sa mga doktor at ospital
                                             inyong pagbutihan
                                             ang paggagamutan
                                             sa mga taxi driver
                                             at kanilang angkan
