Happy Birthday!

: Golden Tribute---Dona Ruth
Date: Thursday, March 11, 1999 3:55 PM

Dear Ana,

In reply to your request for golden tributes, palagay ko una na naman akong
mag-susubmit.

This is a tribute for Ruth who turned 51 last week. Hindi ko masabing
celebrated dahil hindi naman nag-blowout. Anyway when she turned 50 last
year big bash naman sa Intercon Bahia so okay nang patawarin. I failed to
write or give her a message that time so you can imagine ang laking selos
niya ng nagsulat ako ng poem para kay Eric's 50th and the Mangonon's 25th.
Akala pa naman niya one of her closest friends niya ako. So to make up, I
e-mailed her the attached on her birthday last March 4. So huli man at
magaling naihahabol din kahit one year late.

I am sharing it with everyone, with Ruth's permission, of course and I hope
you will enjoy reading it. I hope that those of you who know Ruth well
enough will agree with what I wrote and my feeling na Ruth na Ruth talaga
ang dini-describe ng bawa't word.

Those who want to greet Ruth, puwede ninyo rin dugtungan in the tradition
of Tulang Sentenyal sent by Ana---13 syllabbles per line ang all ending in O
, para puwedeng i-rap----yes, yes yooooh? Or kung wala kayo sa poetic mood,
puwede ding free verse ----Baboooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

   Dona Ruth, Felices Cumpleanos

On Ruth's 51st  birthday, this poem is a regalo
From one of her best friends, former Wilma Guerrero
For what else can you give one with riches muy mucho?

ON THE OUTSIDE . . .

Wears Rolex, South Sea pearls, diamonds and cameo
Feet itchy if not in Bally or Ferragamo
Carries Louis Vuitton bags, though casual in Polo
Rides in one of four Benzes or in a Pajero
Has travelled in U.S., Europe, around the mundo
Adorns her house only with Murano and Lladro
Jetskis, swims by their beach villa near San Fernando
Just being with her makes you feel rich and famoso.

BUT ON THE INSIDE . . .

Despite her wealth, Ruth has remained a simple tao
Her by-passed heart as big as the largest bilao
Concern for others so genuine, walang tatalo
Served as Prez, Soroptimist Mandaluyong as titulo
Raised funds from her classmates and kapwa compañero
              To help all needy, and not only Mental's loco;
Arranged 'Sound of Music' at the Meralco teatro
To help finance U.P. Prep Foundation's projecto.

AS HER BARKADA SEE HER . . .

Fondly called Doña Ruth or Ginang Milyonaryo
We teasingly appointed her as our group's amo
Shared expenses she divides, so walang llamado
                 Penchant for smallest detail, nakakaloko
Take-charge type, born a leader like her Dad, Macario
Fears no one, bows only to esposo, Ricardo
Sometimes gives in to Erika, Ricky Boy, Chelo
But strictly teaches them good manners, right modo
Her energy always at peak, her pace con todo
Loves non-stop dancing, especially the tango
Despite her age and repaired heart, looks young and fresco.

AND WE LOVE HER SO . . .

Happy birthday, friend, as you turn cincuenta y uno
Each of us would like to say, Dear Ruth, yo te amo !!
