PAINT
While I had used acrylics for an illustration at my first newspaper job, I hadn't put paint to canvas for about 14 years. The missus bought me an easel to get me started, and, after finally finding an interesting subject to tackle, I took a photo of a freshly cooked dish and turned it into a painting.

COMICS
Through MetroBEAT, I met J. Chris Campbell, a local illustrator/publisher who has a regular anthology called Wide Awake. I've done three projects for his books, and I'm flattered each time he asks me for a submission. I also got to do my first full-color work for a company called Ronin Studios in 2005. Examples of the comic pages can be found through the below links.

LOGOS The most disappointing project came in late 2004. I was asked to submit potential artwork for a local brewery. While I had good conversations and directions from the representative I talked to, his partner nixed my designs without meeting me. This was after I had progressed from the approved sketches to the finalized images seen here. I made commercial images for hundreds of advertisers in my years at newspapers, and I still enjoy it, even when the art eventually gets chucked as these were.
