"I hate that world 'hulking'. Even in kidding." -- Tom, after Daisy calls him a 'hulking' man
Tom is a spiteful man. While Gatbsy was away in World War I, he used his wealth to sweep Daisy
off her feet, even though he knew she still loved Gatsby and he still loved her. However, even though he supposedly loves Daisy, he is
also having an affair, with George Wilson's wife, Myrtle. And although he his having an
affair, he still stands in the way between Gatsby and Daisy's love. [in other words, he wants his cake and wants to eat it too] Tom doesn't care who he hurts
or why he hurts them just so long as he gets what he wants.
