The Internet Declaration of Independence

                              March 10, 1996

Recent advances by the government of the United States of America

have infringed upon the neutral borders of a self-sustained State of

International magnitude- the Internet- falsely claiming ownership of an

independent Nation not subject to the laws of any one nation. This extreme

arrogance is an embarrassment to a nation founded on ideals contrary to

its current direction. This is a result of an inevitable cause and effect

repeated many times throughout history- power yielding arrogance, and

arrogance yielding corruption. This retrogressive fumble of men forcing men

escalates to war; peace is only obtainable when men no longer force men.

An ignorant law-making body has imposed laws unto a realm of which

its fails to comprehend. The invasion into a peaceful country and

forceful oppression with destructive rules is unacceptable. The disrespect

of its citizens and disregard for the ideals of the Internet's founders

is unacceptable. The rape of the intellectual resources of this rich

state for the betterment of another nation is unacceptable. The attempt to

hinder the dissemination of information such as algorithms of encryption is

asinine. The blatant abuse of this vast network to invade the privacy of

the citizens of domestic and foreign regions is evil. The deprivation of

freedoms and the imprisonment of humans for their lack of exact awareness

of the huge fumbling mass of bureaucracy and intricate laws is disgusting

beyond words.

We hereby declare the Internet an Independent and Free nation whose

strings of servitude to any one nation have been severed. The Internet as

a whole is universally neutral and has allegiances with no countries. I

hereby risk the sacrifice of my single life for the liberation of

many lives.
