Greetings!

Is it time for another update? im not sure. Heck lah.
Anyway the last one wasn't much... and then there was that terrible joke. In very bad taste. I'd like to delete it maybe.. but that's so much trouble. links and all. Bleah. too lazy...

heheh.

Oh well. Happy mood. I went shopping. Happily purchased books and christmas cards. Books are the bestest. Since i last mentioned books, like a month ago, i'm Still reading Orlando (because its my bedtime book and usually bedtime = online time so...) I've gone through even more Jeanette Wintersons... I think with the latest purchase of Sexing the Cherries, i possibly have all her published novels, although i'm hard pressed to tell you where each one might be. My room is one of those organised mess grounds. If you walk into my room for the first time, you're likely to trip over a book, grab randomly at something to steady yourself, in the process knocking off another book which hits you in the head when you land, probably on more books.

Im quite sure the cause of all this is just simply too little room and no bookshelves. You see, my room isn't too big to begin with, and when we were furnishing it, i just Had to have this bed, which is actually quite too big for my room (my father did warn me but i didn't listen and so now i can't complain to him). Its a lovely double-size with a black-curly-heart-shaped-thingy frame. Very nice i assure you. So as it goes, my room consists of The Bed, this black&glass half-desk, and some floor around the bed to walk on. My dad came up with all these ideas for bookshelves and stuff, but they're all dimensionally impossible unless he were to suspend them from the ceiling or something, which is actually a supremely cool idea. Hey...

Yeah. Well anyway, good thing about the bed is that its got Space underneath. Under The Bed. Its where everything in my room goes to die. Particularly books. Unfortunately this space is severely limited by the rules of the third dimension and so stuff does spill out... mainly books... and then we have my mother who occasionally gets so bored she will venture into my room, fall over a few times and then bring out the Boxes. My mother's answer to every mess is eventually Boxes. The idea is that the mess is broken up into smaller messes, and put in boxes, so it doesn't spill out on unsuspecting victims and helps her feel like there's some order established. It makes some sense i have to admit, and it is easier to forage in boxes rather than spraining my spine trying to reach the inner depths of the UnderBed. I'm just waiting to see how many more boxes can fit under there.

Thing is, the best part about my mess is that it consists mainly of books. And to parents, this is a problem because books are supposed to be Good. heheheh... So i don't actually get nagged about them, even though they leave my room in such a state. My mother doesn't know how to admonish me. I think books are so cool.

And im not a nerd. Actually i wouldn't mind being called a nerd, but that's the nerd of nowadays, who tends to know computers and their inner bits. Anyone remembers when a nerd was someone who read alot? heheh. That was silly anyway. Books are fun. Well written ones are even better, I imagine its rather fruitful learning to be gotten from books, considering you don't normally meet that wide a variety of people in day to day life who'd sit you down over a cup of milo and tell you about life and people and different feelings. You probably couldn't bring that person to bed with you and talk to you till you sleep... i say probably. Also, you couldn't drag out that person 5 years later and make him say the same things in the same way you can re-read a book and realise more of it.

What's more, books aren't difficult to read, not at most levels of intelligence. (You'd better not say anything about me.) (What are you doing in here again?) (Bringing my special brand of humour.) (You're just a mouse, go away.) (Fine.) (Thank you.) (You're most welcome. *preen whiskers*) This of course excludes people like Kafka, who, as far as i'm concerned, are impossible to read. Stuff like War and Peace is fabulous. Just because its got 4 times as many pages as most books doesn't make it difficult... I've read it twice, and its just as well its so long. Its such a soap opera, and i love it. Its incredibly well written and not at all cheesy, and not difficult to read. Tolstoy does get incredibly philosophical near the end and often during the war bits, but you can choose to glaze over passages, like you might do for some of Hardy's many countryside descriptions. But im lecturing again. Sorry.

This was supposed to be an update on my life wasn't it. Well. I went shopping, and oh yes! Pratchett's Jingo* is finally out in paperback! yaaaay. Read it and loved it. He sounds a little tired in this book but its nonetheless a brilliant piece of work. Everyone go buy the book. Also, i bought another black skirt. I possibly have too many black skirts. At last count, i had about...9 of them. 3 short ones (plain wool, flare with pearl buttons, plain a-line with black buttons), 3 knee-length (cargo, clingy with side slits, pencil suede), and 3 long ones (velvet flared, velvet-ish a-line, and some slinky material). Out of these, i wear maybe two. I think black skirts are my weakness. Maybe i've never found the right one so i keep searching. Hrm. Maybe buying black skirts satisfies some inner craving of mine. Hrm. Something.
*In case you didn't know, Jingo is the title of a book. (someone just asked me)

I need to buy pants now.

Shall i tell you what i want for Christmas? Oh why not, not like u'll get anything for me. Even my parents don't get me anything for Christmas. I wonder what to get for them though. I think my mother needs to develop a distaste for the poison that is nescafe... so i'll probably get her bags of gourmet coffee beans with fancy names. The lingering smell alone will be worth it. My dad's a tough one though. Maybe if i buy him a large assortment of nuts and promise not to remove all the almonds...

  g. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Soundtrack. (throw in the lead guy..whtshisname)

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels the movie is Brilliant! if it comes to whatever country you're in, you Have to see it. Its one of those hilariously dark comedy things... its witty, its got beautiful guys, its sarcastic, sexy and sometimes spastic. Totally British. Its supposed to be like Trainspotting, but i have yet to see that one, so i don't know, but it reminded me of Shallow Grave. Another one of those brilliant dark comedies. Also a British production, and it had ewan mcgregor in it, which helped. [grin]

Lessee. I could give you the movie website, but beyond the flashy shockwave display, its not much. Nevermind. If you're interested, you can go here and see for yourself.

Another movie i caught recently (these are the first two movies i've seen in months by the way) was '54'. Its about the Studio 54 nightclub in New York, which was the height of hedonism in the eighties. It wasn't a very good movie, but the lead (ryan phillipe) was totally delicious! yeah man. wah lau. Pretty boy overkill. Anyway the movie was still interesting...nightly orgies, drugs and disco. Have you heard of it? it was famous for the people it let in. Only those who looked right, didn't matter who they were, if they were gorgeous, they got in. Fabulous. Decadence. Anyway the party ended due to tax evasion crimes and so much for that. But after watching that, i reeeally wanted to party.

Last friday there was a party i was supposed to attend, but there was a mix-up, our tickets didn't arrive, i forgot to bring ID, and then the friend i was with decided she didn't really want to be there. So nevermind. This friday, there's another one, and im going! haha! I'll do my best to have a fabulously bacchanalian time And live to tell you about it. : )

Oh dear. I just found out i should have enrolled by now for my summer courses. Damn.

Before i leave, i have to promote these new homepages. I haven't exactly got a links page...well not one that's actually constructed yet, so i can only properly advertise them here.

@ Hongyi's Homepage -- hilarious stuff. you have to visit it.
@ Eikram's Catharsis --- a guy with issues.
@ Quadrilateral Ping Pong Balls - I've advertised this page before, but its one of my favourites.   Wonderfully absurd.
@ SSA Online -- the Singapore Students Association web site. I've been working on this recently. Go and add something to the message board. anything. its dying. sniff.

Okay now you have places to go. Take care and Happy Holidays! hahaha!!! party party party ...
