My name is Peej. Well, actually, my initials are P.J., so Peej is a contraction of them. I was born in the United States, in New Jersey, although I don't usually like to admit it. Now I live near Burlington in Vermont's beautiful Green Mountains. They're not large mountains by any worldwide standard, but they are pretty, and they're famous for fall foliage and spring sugaring. It's the maple trees that make both of these possible.
I live at the edge of a wetland, wedged between a golf course and the mountain. Moose winter on the ridge just above my house, and they come down to the beaver pond to drink during the dry season. The beaver works hard. He has seven dams on his pond, and if you go there at dusk you can see him come out to check his work.
The roads around here are pretty well maintained, but in the spring they're miles and miles of up-to-the-axle quiver-sucking mud and the terrain can be rough, so I (and many of my neighbors) drive a subaru, which helps. We get a lot of snow here, and some good thunderstorms. Check out today's weather for northwestern Vermont:
I share my house with a rat named Khalil. Mister died this spring, and we buried him someplace pretty. He was a sweet little guy.
For amusement, I enjoy music and theater, art and literature, hiking, biking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, and cooking. My specialties are bread baking and chinese food.
Between my leisure hours, I find time to go to work. I hold a Bachelor of Music Education with emphases in voice and composition from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. I am a member of Kappa Gamma Psi, a professional fraternity for men and women in the performing arts.
All in all, i'm a regular sort of person. My personal philosophies can be summed up in these three phrases:- Be nice or don't be.
- It never hurts to know stuff
and - Olfacimus sed meliorem facimus
(we stink but we're getting better.)
