George is Myrtle's husband. He owns a gas station, where he works and they are very poor, so poor that he had to borrow a suit for his wedding. They live in the poorest area of New York [where present-day Queens is]. George has a lot of hard luck as his wife has an affair right under his nose with Tom and he doesn't realize it. At the end of the book, his wife gets run over by a car and Tom hints that it was Gatsby who did it so he goes and kills him [Gatsby] and then himself.
