of an artistic mind: Chris Stern has made a good page with lots of
helpful information for artists and users - not only about copyright (and
she makes great graphics too :o)).
HTML TUTORIAL: Click with the right mouse-button at the image you want to down-load and when you have chosen "Save image as..." from the little menu, a window pops up. There already is a name suggestion in the area File Name, but you can change it to whatever you want (preferable with no more than 8 letters + .gif or .jpg). When you've changed the name (or left it as it was), click until you come to the catalogue where you want to store the image. Then click on the Save-button. Done! Since many webpage owners pay for the traffic to/from their sites directlinking is a big no-no. (Direct linking means linking to an image instead of down-loading it.) It uses bandwidth, and it is most unfair toward the webpage owner who ends up having to pay for other people's bandwidth. WebTV users don't have any hard disk to save graphics, but there ARE ways to do it. :o) Here are a couple of good links with information about how to use graphics without direct-linking: Web

Information for AOL users AOL users sometimes have problem with graphics they down-load. The graphics get converted (compressed) to another format (.art), which can't be viewed in many other browers. Here is a link which might be useful: WinZip and AOL, but you can also read the information from AOL support below: If you are trying to save a graphic from your Web Browser and your WWW preferences are set for 'Compressed Graphics', the file you save will be in the .ART format, instead of as a .JPG or .GIF. If you try to open the file in another program it will not recognize the file as a valid format. The best way to take care of this is to follow these simple instructions: 1.
Once at the 'AOL Sign On Screen' click 'members' from the 'AOL Menu Bar'.
Then you will also want to poke around and find the area that says 'Temporary Internet files' and then delete all of them. This will clear your web cache so you will notice the difference in pages you visit on a regular basis. (Don't forget to hit the 'reload' button too.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * |
