Belt Pkwy at Nassau Expwy Overpass
The nascent Nassau Expwy heads eastward, soaring over the Belt just a block east of Cross Bay Blvd. The Nassau at this point is intimately tied like a Siamese twin to South Conduit Avenue. Both of them have been born kicking and screaming together from the ashes of Conduit Blvd and the abandoned right-of-way of the massive Interstate 78 complex that had once been envisioned.

This particular overpass is of relatively recent vintage. The similarities to its contemporary spanning the Belt at Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn can't be ignored. I suspect even the DOT isn't sure whether it's the Nassau Expwy here, or South Conduit Avenue, since the overpass still lacks the tiny green directionals always plastered to overpasses identifying what roads they carry. It seems like an awfully substantial affair to belong to a mere avenue, but the Queens Conduits have been known to be tenacious of their positions as the Belt Pkwy's Queens section service roads.
