We're taking a breather at the Citgo service area on the Hutch just north of the Bruckner Interchange, visible beyond you-know-who's golden arches. The southbounders who don't opt for one of those two interstates, will shortly find themselves on the Whitestone Bridge.

A wider view of the action. There aren't too many spots when you think about it where you can stretch yourself mere unfenced inches from the high speed action of an arterial highway.

Looking north, we have the gas part of the gas station, the more northerly section where I stand devoted to the golden arch guys. I find it incredible that these trash cans don't get constantly rammed by wayward drivers in the Hutch's right lane. Maybe they should replace them with those yellow trashcan-like things that always block concrete walls at various highway exits. The location of this rest stop is roughly near Waterbury Avenue. The Hutch passes beneath what I believe is a school building up ahead, just before East Tremont Avenue. Shot 10/99.
