Exit
9 is officially for Wolf's Lane and the exit ramp does feed directly
into that Pelham side street, but the major crossroads accessed
via this exit are really East 3rd Avenue just up ahead and Sanford
Blvd just to the south; both of which are main east-west drags
of sorts for Mount Vernon to the left. The parkway system however, was engineered by rather snooty folks, kowtowing in many instances to even snootier folks, to avoid undo opposition to the building of these roads. |

| The city of Mount Vernon must have been considered decidedly low brow to the denizens of the Pelhams. Horror of horrors that the Pelhamites should be lumped together with the hoi polloi of Mount Vernon any more than minimally possible on directional signs. Hence, while Mount Vernon couldn't be totally ignored on the preceding signs, its two main roads get shafted bigtime in favor of sleepy Wolfs Lane. |

| East 3rd at least gets some payback for taking a directional back seat. It gets to cross the Hutch on one of the nicer classic stonefaced arched overpasses. Shot 10/23/99. |
