In the World before Monkey primal chaos reigned. Heaven sought order. But the phoenix can only fly when its feathers are grown. The four worlds formed again, and yet again as endless aeons wheeled and past. Time and pure essences of Heaven, the moisture of the Earth, the powers of the sun and the moon, all worked upon a certain rock, old as creation, and it became magically fertile. That first egg was named Thought. Tuffakata Buddha, the Father Buddha said "With our thoughts, we make the world." Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch. From it came a stone monkey. The nature of Monkey was... irrepressible!!! MOOONNNKKKKEEEYYYYY!!

Monkey - also known as Great Sage Equal of Heaven was always one of my favourite characters. Monkey is an imortal. One of his great achievements is to cloud fly. He was banished from Heaven from eating the forbidden peaches he was to guard and was forced to live on Earth. His weapon is his 'wishing staff' that he can make grow bigger or small enough to fit in his ear. He is the best fighter in the group!!! One of his phrases 'I love a good fight!!!' Monkey is played by the actor Masaaki Sakai.

Tripitaka - is the boy priest that rescues Monkey from being trapped under a huge mountain for 500 years. Tripitaka had orders from the Buddha to get the scriptures from all the way from India, starting in China. Once Tripitaka meets up with Monkey, he traps Monkey with a gold ring that he wears around his head and when Monkey misbehaves, the priest says the headache sutra. Some favourite phases are 'Buddha says..' and 'Remember - no violence Monkey!!' Tripitaka is actually played by an actress Masako Natsume.

Sandy - was once the Commander of the heavenly Hosts. During a battle with Monkey in Heaven, Sandy accidentally dropped the emperor's Jade cup and was banished to Earth, killed and reborn as a Water Monster. His weapon is the Bojutsu and his favourite phrase 'Oh do shut up'. Sandy was played by the actor Shiro Kishibe.

Pigsy - was once the Martial of the Heavenly Host, but by being defeated by Monkey, he got drunk and when Pigsy was drunk, tried to take advantage of the Goddess of Heaven and for that reason, the Jade Emperor banished Pigsy from heaven and he was to be reborn and spend the rest of his life as a swine, lusting after woman. Also known as - stupid swine, pig spirit and Lord hog. Some of his favourite phrases 'I'm hungry!' and 'Look! A Woman!' His weapon is the Muck Rake. Pigsy was played by the actor Toshiyuki Nishida.
