I ponder,
As the River flows past me,
The whys of our encounter.
What in my destiny
Drew me in your direction?
What in yours
Caused you to be
In this place
At this time?
I do not believe
In the destiny of
Hollywood starstruck movie romances.
I do belive in a Karmic destiny.
In your eyes
I saw a spark.
There was something almost recognizable
Though I have now forgotton
What it even felt similar to.
Your touch
Has awaken something in me
That I had put asleep
A year and a half ago.
Should I allow
These sensations to bloom?
Am I a passenger
On a train
Heading for certain doom?
I let the River
Carry away my fears,
My apprehensions,
And my whispering worries.
A dragonfly
Hovers before me
Seeming to watch me with curiosity.
He reminds me of an Indian Legend
I've once heard.
The dragon
With the awesome power to change at will
Was tricked into changing it's body
Into the form known now as dragonfly.
Dragon, is now trapped,
Flitting about,
In his small body
With magically alluring, iridescent colors,
Captivating the imagination
Of all who see him.
He is a reminder
That what we accept as reality
Is but an illusion,
And there are circumstances
That warrant change in our lives.
We may need to go so far
As to change our very own belief system
To continue our journey.
I have journeyed far and long
In my life,
And one thing
That remains constant,
Is that every living being
I have fully encountered
Has had an impact.
And, therefore, no encounter
Is without significance.

Nebraska Lands
Spread so quietly
and endless
Before and behind me
You speak of an emptiness
That even the ranchers can't fill
With their cornfields and haystacks
I heard the lone cry of a hawk
Snakes froze as I approached
and Jackrabbits scurried at my footsteps
I will remember the rustling cornfields
And the stars that went on endlessly into the night
I have come to appreciate the ever-constant winds
That change the ancient landscape
And that are carrying me home today
