      Promises

It was a cold drizzling rain on the morning that she left me. I sat there
watching her pack to leave. I'll never know what it was that possessed me. I
couldn't move or say anything. She kissed me on the cheek, walked out the
door without closing it. All I could think of was…

      Promises, promises
      I don't believe in promises.
      Love dies as mere infatuation.
Seasons change and fall to lies.
      Promises, promises

Tomorrow ended today. I tried to write a letter but could not think of a
damn thing to say. It's just another season of the bitch, feeling helpless
and hollow as a gourd. I think of your lips and wonder who's been
kissing them. Does he enjoy all the little things that I taught you?

      Promises, promises
      I don't believe in promises.
      Love dies as mere infatuation.
Seasons change and fall to lies.
      Promises, promises

Well I guess I'm getting better, made it through a whole day without cursing
your name. As the nightmares fade back to dreams. Things really aren't as
bad as they seemed. I know I'll find another, who'll love me and whisper in
my ear. Who knows, maybe someday I'll believe her.

      Promises, promises
      I don't believe in promises.
      Love dies as mere infatuation.
Seasons change and fall to lies.
      Promises, promises
