This is a work of fiction, but incidents similar to this happen every day across this country. Not all of them end the way Loren did, most of them go on for years, many end in the murder of the victim. A little over a year ago I read an article about "The Clothesline Project" and I knew that I had to get involved in the fight to end violence against women. I feel that to help end the violence, the world must become more aware of not only of its extent, but how it affects those who are victims of it. You can help. Get involved. Volunteer to work at your local women's shelter, or get involved with your local Clothesline Project. If your community doesn't have a chapter of the Clothesline Project, then start one. I did.
