Why I Teach
By John A. Wilson
Ten more minutes until the bell,
The students have all done their best.
Today’s assignments have been turned in
They have earned a few minutes rest.
The bus is waiting just outside
To take the children safely home
Where the parents can decide
To make them stay or let them roam.
But back they will come tomorrow
Their futures are placed in my hand,
To succeed or fail as they will
They are the future of this land.
I am here today to help them
To make sure their dreams they can reach
I could make more money elsewhere
But I care enough that I teach.
