Scene 1
A close up shot of Debbie, up to her neck in mud. She is struggling hard and sinks to her chin.
Debbie: "Help!. Somebody help me!"
The camera zooms back to show that Trisha is also up to her neck in the mud, just a few feet away from Debbie, and similarly struggling.
Trisha: "Heeeelp!....I'm going under!" (She sinks to her tilted-back face as she screams).
Suddenly, Jill plunges into the mud, immediately adjacent to Trisha, sinking in to her chest. However, the expression on her face is playful.
Jill: "That's right. You are going under." (Jill now pushes down on Trisha's shoulder, pushing her under. She then moves over to Debbie and does the same to her.)
Trisha pops back up to the surfaxcec within seconds, as does Debbie, sputtering mud and laughing.
Trisha: "You pushed me under!"
Debbie: "What did you do that for?"
Jill: "You said it was impossible to sink all the way in this stuff....So I sunk you."
Trisha: "Very funny...."
Debbie: "There's a difference between sinking and getting sunk."
Jill: "The end result is the same, isn't it."
Debbie: "I suppose, but you know what I meant....The density of this stuff is too high....it can't suck a person under."
All three women start slogging toward shallower mud and solid ground.
Trisha: "Come on, let's get cleaned up."

Scene 2
The scene opens with a shot of an extensive array of chemical apparatus - retort columns, tubes, mixing tanks, and the like. There is also an array of solar reflectors, used to focus light on a collection surface to make heat to drive chemical reactions. The solar panels are arranged randomly, suggesting they are not in use. There are two colonists tending the equipment.
Player #1: "OK, let's start it up again....focus reflectors one, five, and nine."
Player #2: (adjusts the reflectors) "One is on....five is on....there's nine....How's that?"
They wait as the heat increases
Player #1: (looking at a fluid starting to drip out the end of the system) "Looks good."
Player #2 collects a tiny drop of the fluid in a vial, walks to the edge of a large pit, drops in a drop of another fluid, then tosses the vial into the pit. Immediately there is a very large explosion. The two colonists then watch for half a minute. Then a good deal of their glass apparatus suddenly shatters. They rush to shut down the remaining equipment, looking grim and defeated.
Player #2: "That glass is just no good!"

Scene 3
The two players from scene one are meeting with Captain Smith. Sue Sen and George Buck are also present.
Player #1: "If we're ever going to generate enough fuel to really use the shuttle craft we've got to be able to make better glass. The stuff we're making now just can't handle the changes in heat."
George: "What's wrong with the glass we have?"
Player #2: "We're making it from sand deposits on the far side of the volcano. Its very good sand for making glass in general but it contains some trace elements that make it very hard to temper correctly....That makes it shatter quickly when exposed to temperature changes."
Captain: "Those trace elements can't be filtered out?"
Player #1: "No....But we could correct the problem if we had a supply of gold fluoride"
George: "Gold fluoride?...where are we going to find that?"
Sue: "That's sometimes found in the gases rising from large volcanic fields....We've got plenty of those on this planet."
Captain: "In large enough quantities to solve our glass problem?"
Player #1: "We only need trace amounts, Captain."
Player #2: "A single gram would be enough to meet our needs for a year."
Captain: "Very well....Sue, put together a team for an expedition....See if Weatherby can suggest which volcanic field is most promising....If not, check out the nearest one."

What happens next. Obviously, there will be an expedition to a volcannic area. But what will the expedition encounter? An eruption?, poisoinous gases?, pirates?, lost humans?, aliens?
