Two book loving friends, Kim Bagley and Dawn Howard co-founded the club in June 1996. They brought together a group of friends and co-workers for aninitial interest meeting and the Sister Circle Book Club was born! The ladies enthusiastically moved forward, with their first book discussion of R.L.'s Dream by Walter Mosely. Since the beginning, the group has grown in size and new chapters have emerged in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Raleigh/Durham!

The mission of The Sister Circle Book Club is to read literature written by African-American authors and engage in enlightening monthly discussions with a network of sisters.
