it's raining outside
the irregular polygons of sidewalk grow and branch across the dying lawn
this rain comes after too much sun
and lasts for too little a time.
I miss everyone here, now that they've disappeared.
This place is so empty.
Four times a day some people come and congregate in one
of only a few buildings in this whole campus.
they don't speak to each other much,
they just come and then go.
Even the rain lasts longer.
It makes you realise how much you used to see them.
now if I ask the computer who's around
it tells me that the last person came in two weeks ago
just after the rain stopped for the first time
and the sun began to bake the ground.
I've been here every day, but it doesn't matter.
I'm used to being alone
doing the things a lone wolf does
with the quietly dying lawn growing across my eyes.
