And then the phone rang........
An intense scream ripped through the murky chamber. I could see the horror and disbelief in her eyes as she looked at her child. The woman shuddered with fear, unsure of what was going to happen to her. She was defenseless! She knew that her destiny was not in her hands, it was in the hands of this murdering........thing!

I looked at my hands, they were shaking violently. You see I have watched many horror movies before, but none seemed as realistic as this one. Maybe it's because I was babysitting two kids, one six years old and the other a baby, just like in the movie. I still couldn't believe that a woman could kill two innocent children. The thought of it made me feel unsure of many women that I have met. It made me sick to my stomach.

I looked at the digital display on the VCR. I noticed that it was 11:18 p.m.. I knew that the kids were in their beds sleeping as peacful as the sun setting behind the mountains. I noticed that in the corner of the room there was a big grandfather clock. I could hear the pendulum ticking as mellow as music in an elevator. As time progressed, the ticking became louder and louder until it seemed to fill the room. My eyes felt as it they were becoming weighted like paper under a paper weight. I tried to keep them open, but they felt heavy and began to close. I began to nod off to sleep.

The phone rang. I picked it up and all I heard was a dial-tone. Then I had remembered that Mrs and Mr. Knickerbocker had explained to me that a friend of theirs was supposed to come over and deliver a package. The also told me that I was to give her a check that was downstairs in the family room. I thought that she might have called to see if anybody was here and when I answered the phone, she found out.

Just then I heard a knock on the door. I wondered who it was. As I looked through the window, I noticed that the woman was holding a package. I opened the door and let her in. I explained that I was babysitting and that I had a check for her downstairs. She said that she would wait by the door. I went downstairs and got the check. When I came back upstairs, the door was open that the woman was gone. I looked outside and saw a figure move quickly around the corner. I closed the door and locked it. Then I decided that I had better go and check on the kids. I walked up the long flight of stairs. When I walked down the hallway I could feel that something was wrong. As I entered the room and turned on the light, everything looked so perfect. The kids were sleeping and everything was like I had left it. I went over to pull the covers up for the six year old. As I grasped the black blanket, I felt a wet spot. I started to remove the blanket from his bed, his head started to move. It tumbled off the bed and on to the floor leaving a trail of scarlet gore. As I stood there in shock, I noticed his eyes were staring directly at me. His eyes looked as if they were asking me "WHY?" Stumbling back with terror my eyes fell directly on to the crib and the contents inside. I could see nothing but bloody chunks of the baby's flesh. The hairs on my neck rose as I felt the presence of something behind me.

I turned around with hesitation, scared of what I was about to face! I saw an old cat on the back of a chair. I was all shaken up as I noticed that I was not in the children's room. Instead I was in a very familiar place. Still sitting on the chair, I looked at the clock on the VCR. I couldn't believe it was only 12:00 a.m.! I ran up the long flight of stairs, heading in the direction of the children's room.

I turned on the light and was very cautious as I approached the boy's bed. As I reached for the black blanket I noticed a wet spot. Unsure of what was awaiting, I stripped the blanket off the bed. The young child was sleeping peacefuly. I guess he had just wet his bed. I looked into the baby's crib and the baby was fine.

I returned to the family room. The TV was still on the movie that I was watching before. I quickly changed the channel to M.A.S.H.. Suddenly a loud ring peirced through the room. I picked up ithe phone and I heard nothing except a loud dial-tone. As quickly as possible I hung up the phone and called my mother. She picked up the phone and I started to scream about everything I had just been through. In a very calm voice she explained that everything would be alright. She said things like "we are just a phone call away" and "You have nothing to worry about. You are in a very safe neighborhood."

I finally clamed down. It had all seemed so real, so real that I was relieved to hear that my mother would come over if I needed her to. Suddenly There was a loud knock that echoed through the entire house. I became frightened as I wondered who it could be. I looked out the window and all that caught my attenion was two strange eyes smoldering back at me. I ran to the phone to call my mother. I picked up the phone. No dial tne! What could I do? Wait! The knocking stopped. I slowly turned towards the door. OH GOD! THOSE EYES, THOSE INSUFFERABLE EYES.....................
