REQUIREMENTS: Mechwarrior 2 CD-ROM Ghost Bear Legacy CD-ROM (Optional) Hex Editor KNOWN BUGS: *Does not work with the version 1.1 patch. *Does not work with the WINDOWS 95 version. INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Completely erase Mechwarrior 2 from your hard drive. 2. Make a directory called mech2. 3. copy the entire root directory including the directorys in into the mech2 dir. 4. Do a full install of the game from the CD into another dir on the hard drive. 5. Load the file mech2.exe, from the mech2 directory, into the hex editor. 6. Search for the string B9 01 00 00 00 E8 0D FF FF FF 83 C0 7. Change B9 01 to B9 00 then save. (if the above string is found more than once change themalso.) 8. Load the file mw2.exe, from the mech2 directory, into the hex editor. 9. Search for the string B9 01 00 00 00 E8 10. Change B9 01 to B9 00 then save. (again, if the above string is found more than once changethem also.) 11. Restart your system w/o any drivers except your CD. 12. Put any non-audio non-Mech2 CD in your drive and play the game. (note: doing it this way will not have any music, will not have sound, or have briefing screens.) (If you want to crack the GBL CD edit the bgl.exe instead.)
