Title: Young Love
Writer: Craig Kirchner
In younger days and naiveté -
Your smiles by my side,
my lies and fantasies,
your name haunted me
as though it were my own.
By chance we spoke
and danced through dreams
like clowns in a medieval play,
mocking the phantoms surreal,
landing delicately, unscathed,
from shadows drifting out to sea.
To touch your lips, your hands -
The fiendish act of the hollow men,
and all that I saw was your smile
as it smuggled the glow
and steeled the space
between your eyes and mine...
And I finally know her
as I come to know myself
and I beg all men to find her
and make their love complete.
