WEB MAP This educational software package was specifically designed as a tool to support student-centred knowledge construction through playful inquiry, applying cognitive science philosophies of pedagogy. The student can investigate answers to the question: "What if I made this sentence?" It supports students creating sentences in French and then watching the characters on the monitor act out the meaning of the sentences. Hense the title: "Sentence Animation" or Phrase Animee. Originaly conceived in 1983, it was funded for development by the Ontario Ministry of Education in 1985, completed in 1987, in-school tested until 1989, and distributed throughout Ontario in 1990. Full copyright is retained by David Fletcher. The program is based in the constructivist premise that children learn through playfully creating sentences from their own immaginations. Such constructions are retained in meaningful ways. Click here to go to a mock version of the full program
