Tom's Notes on "In The Loft"

In The Loft

I cannot help but look
down your sweater
to your chest
and beyond
--avoiding your eyes like the curse they are--
Entrapment.
so smiling and warm I must
ignore your snaring winks
and tongue licked smiles.

Tom's Notes:

This was actually written about Emily, back in the days before she became my good friend Jason's girlfriend. Of course, this is a figurative piece. It expresses the the sudden shock I felt one night when I started to feel the strange pull this woman had over two of my friends, while sitting up in the loft above her 4th floor Towers room with J, and talking about things long since forgotten.

Don't remember much about that evening but this feeling which I have put to life with cold, almost devilish pictures.
