October Memories
All of these are images:
slide of bed sheets,
turn of the faucets,
bending wooden steps and
tears from the dark.
I cannot see the
visions,
clouded, frosted,
blank voiceless
flash of life.
A cup falls suddenly,
candle flame wavers,
bowl rattles,
lights dim and
blink to black.
Cold shiver and shake.
The walls are moving
down in circles
like water in a
shower drain.

Tom's Notes:
Originally a poem simply about a haunting, this poem has come to be symbolic for so much more, the month of October always seeming to be a month of drama or transition in my life. The images in this poem, on the surface, are just a poltergeist, but have become to me more of an emotional haunting, memories and issues and stress circling down, ready to collapse.
Love the imagery and simplicity of this one.
