Bittersweet Sunshine

On a warm, summer day
beneath this sparkling, clear blue sky
my soul is overjoyed,
but there is something in my eye:
a sad, salty reminder
flows down my smiling face,
of equally beautiful yesterdays
that can never be replaced.

Some might wonder why
I weep for days gone past?
Because then I knew of love
and I thought that it might last
forever and for always,
for better or for worse,
but now that she has left me
my happiness is cursed.
