My background: papers and exhibitions
Border activities I wrote some articles in Dutch, English and French on book design, fine bookbinding, conservation and restoration related fields. I love gold leather; an abstract of a paper on Cordoba leather, is available on this site.
I am concerned about the risk assessment of the use of chemicals by restorers and therefore coordinated a seminar on "Health and toxicological aspects of the restoration of Art objects" of which the abstracts have been published.
From 1995-today I have been nominated as coordinator of the Paper Conservation Section of the Belgian restoration society: Art Restorers Association. This section has today more than 48 Belgian members (conservators/paper makers/bookbinders) and the main Association has today about 200 members, mainly professionals from Belgium.
I have been involved in the coordination and the organization of an exhibition on Japanese Karacho Paper (Family Senda, Kyoto-Japan) which was held 22nd November - 20th December, 1996 at the Bibliotheca Wittockiana, Brussels-Belgium.
You can retrieve most of my papers from this site.
