Comedy Ninja Master
Farley delivers with Beverly Hills Ninja
I have seen Tommy Boy and Black Sheep, two other movies which Chris Farley starred in, and loved them. So, when I popped this tape in the VCR I expected to see a movie which was extremely good and funny. I wasn’t disappointed.
The story line is not really original. The story revolves around a baby, called Haru, from the U.S. landing on a beach in Japan where he becomes (or at least tries to) a ninja. A woman, claiming to be in danger, leads him to the states or “in the hills of Beverly”, as he calls it. He ends up catching a man who is going to counterfeit money. He ends up catching the crook and saving the girl, all the while earning his respect as a ninja.
The bad part of the movie was, as in his other movies, his use of bad language. Though this movie contained much less foul language than his previous ones. It still contained too much for comfort. This movie also contained a scene of him, Chris Farley, going into a strip bar. This wasn’t called for. This movie would have been better if that scene would have been left out.
Some of the scenes in the movie were very fake. Many activities could not have been done in reality without a great deal of harm done to the person. Of course, though, that is true of a lot of other comedy movies.
There were several bright spots in the movie. The number one was the main actor, Chris Farley. During the movie he showed the fact that he had NO talent for karate. Every time he picked up a weapon he would break something or hurt someone. Many of them were extremely funny. He also showed, as in his other movies, his inability to converse with other people in a normal fashion. He was always yelling doing other activities that a normal person wouldn’t do.
This movie was a worthy see. I, personally, think that this movie was better than any of his former movies. I strongly suggest that you go see it at the theater, rent it from the bookstore, or buy it. 5 Stars.
