motel 8

let us escape this world that breaks us
dismiss the trivial beings,
the commitments,
the overbearing assholes,
the contempt
that pins us down.

let us find ourselves in a cheap one-night motel
in a room with cobwebs in the corners,
three channels on the dusty television,
faded sheets on the ancient bed--
a dim, filthy lamp hardly illuminating
the trash that slowly builds.

let us come together when night falls
and make love in silence,
surrounded by a hundred candles
you feel my presence as I sense your purity,
join with me to transform this shell of scum
into a beautiful envelope of love.

let us lay down in slumber, my arm on your stomach
and my head against your chest,
watching you breathe, hearing you pulse,
admiring every quality you possess
in silence
as I know your mouth will whisper my name when you wake.

let us awake with the sun above us
and rise ot paint colors in the sky,
you brushing my hair gently and
caressing my neck with your soft lips,
come travel with me forever
and continue to illuminate this shell.
