Here, in the land of Equinox books, McCue's favorite authors shall be discussed at length. Oddly enough, some of the people with whom one might associate either McCue or Equinox have fallen out of his favor. AND YET THEY REMAIN HERE! Below is a list of the authors who have struck McCue's fancy and whom he believes will be a long standing influence on his own work. *Please bear with we here at EquinoxNet as the sites are built and improved.*
The John Irving Page: The current crown jewel of the McCue/Equinox Book Sector. This page is multi-layered as McCue is an enormous Irving fan. It profiles Irving's life, books, the adaptation of his novels to film, as well as a discussion of recurring themes and his battles with various authors in the press, not the least of whom is Tom Wolfe, another featured author.
The Kurt Vonnegut Page: Vonnegut stands as the author McCue wishes he could be but knows that he never will. Of course, anyone wishing to be Vonnegut knows this, but McCue's reasons are different: he is simply not that kind of writer. Is he saying that if he were he could be Kurt? No, but I think he is saying that if he were his attempts would be less pathetic than they be currently.
The Michael Chabon Page: In the wake of Mr. Chabon's Pulitzer Victory earlier this month, it only seems fitting that he should have his own page here at EquinoxNet. Focussing on his novels and short stories, this page will also dip into the adaptation of Chabon's novel Wonder Boys into one of the most satisfying films McCue has been to see in a long, long time.
The Rick Moody Page: Graduate of the Columbia University M.F.A. program for fiction, self-confessed former lude addict and possible current Jesus-freak, Mr. Moody seems the heir apparent to the world of Cheever, Updike, and Irving. His novels focus on American suburbia and its underbelly without turning it into something so seedy, you just want to put the book back into the Barry Gifford section of your home library. Moody would be looking the wrong direction, wouldn't he?
