When interviewed for IFC, Todd Haynes explained that Jack Fairy was a combination of Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno. Currently, Mr. Equinox does not have a selection of pictures that will make this particular portion of the Equinoxnet visually pleasing. However, information abounds.
Ferry and Eno are credited with having been at the forefront of the glam era. As is correctly portrayed in Velvet Goldmine, Bryan Slade/David Bowie was looking for an image that would crack into a whole new era in rock. In VG, Slade attends one of Wild's concerts and laments the fact that he was not the one to select that kind of an outrageous approach to rock...however, much as Slade loves Wild, it was he reverance for Jack Fairy that eventually led to the creation of the Maxwell Demon alter-ego, and it was because of Ferry that Bryan persued Mandy--in reality, many credit Bowie's ex-wife for the creation of Ziggy Stardust.
So, the spacy stylings of Brian Eno...Brain One...are the cellestial/stagy portions of Fairy, while the musical presence is more the Ferry side. Oddly enough, it is the songs Bowie did with Eno that McCue and Equinox like the very least... with the exception of Heroes... perhaps they'll warm up to them.
