This Photograph shows the cast iron "pot" that acts as my crucible. Here to Aluminum has melted and has almost reached temperature. The Aluminum has to be hot enough to stay molten during the pour (Approx. 1200 degrees F), If it is too cool it will set before it has a chance to fully fill the mold. You will notice that the "crucible" rests on a fire brick palette and the that the ground around the palette and the Burner is covered with sand to help disperse the radiant heat. Remember SAFETY FIRST! |
